My earliest memories of music were in the classic country vein, as well as Elvis, because of my parents. It was my brother who influenced my listening to Rock n Roll. Vinyl records from The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, and many more, all played a part in shaping my bass playing. My brother playing drums, and a friend of his playing guitar, got together to jam some of the current hot songs of that time and I was turned onto live Rock music for the first time while listening to my brother and his friend play “She” by Kiss in my parent’s basement. Shortly after, I was playing bass guitar and getting together with some friends from school. While still in Junior High School, I was playing in a band that performed at school dances, community centers, back yards, parking lots, and anywhere else that we could set up and jam (usually until the cops came to shut us down). Over the years, I've played in various bands that have played various styles. I've always enjoyed the creative process of writing songs with others, however, more important to me is the friendships that go along with being in a band and being in the band scene. The single most important thing in my life is my spiritual life. It’s because of this that all other things find their respective place in my life. There’s a music that I hear and feel that is infinitely more deep than anything this world has to offer. It's already playing in my spirit and it becomes more clear as the years go by. It’s a grand symphony of cosmic proportions that permeates all facets of what life has to offer. A big part in the music I hear is my relationship with my daughter. I met the guys from the Secret System and it felt comfortable right away, although I have to admit that I was a little concerned at first - with a name like “the Secret System”. I questioned the guys as to whether or not they were into some far out right-wing, new world order conspiracy theory or something of this sorts. That's not the case. We all definitely have our own very personal "secret" way of doing things to get through this life. It's not always easy - that's for sure, however, joy always pushes it's way into our lives at just the right times. It's great to be back in the music scene and it's great to be taking part in a relaxed, creative, and fun band. I hope that your secret system leads you towards Hope, Life, and Joy. |
